Iowa Dairy Princess Contest and Youth Workshop Registration Open

The Iowa Dairy Princess Program gives young dairy leaders the opportunity to represent Iowa dairy farm families while connecting with consumers across the state. Serving as goodwill ambassadors, the Iowa Dairy Princess and Alternate share the story of how dairy farmers care for their cows, their land, and produce wholesome, nutritious dairy foods for families to enjoy.

The current Iowa Dairy Princess is Kelsey Timp, an 18-year-old from Ossian. Kelsey was crowned the 72nd Iowa Dairy Princess during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on August 6, 2025. The daughter of Brett and Robin Timp, she represented Winneshiek County and is currently a freshman at Iowa State University, where she studies agricultural communications and agribusiness.

Serving alongside Kelsey is Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate Alia Domeyer of Delhi. The daughter of Dewey and Jeannie Domeyer, Alia represented Delaware County and is a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa, where she studies finance and marketing.

Together, Kelsey and Alia have spent the past year serving as advocates for Iowa dairy farmers through public appearances and consumer outreach, helping people better understand the dedication dairy farm families have to their cows, their communities, and the milk they produce. Their reign will continue through the 2026 Iowa State Fair.

Applications are now open for the 2026–27 Iowa Dairy Princess Contest, which will take place August 11–12, 2026, at the Courtyard by Marriott Ankeny, with coronation scheduled for the evening of August 12 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Applications will be accepted through July 1, 2026. Candidates are evaluated based on their application, essay responses, interview skills, and ability to advocate for Iowa dairy farmers. Visit MidwestDairy.com for more information or to apply.

Students interested in building their communication skills are also encouraged to register for the Dairy Youth Communications Workshop on June 4, 2026, in Waterloo. Designed for county and breed dairy princesses, dairy ambassadors, and high school or college students passionate about dairy, the workshop offers hands-on opportunities to strengthen dairy promotion and communication skills. Registration is open through May 22, 2026, at MidwestDairy.com.
